A globe valve is a linear motion valve used to stop, start, and regulate fluid flow, named for its spherical body shape. Its primary function is throttling or precise flow control, achieved by a disc that moves perpendicularly to a stationary ring seat, creating an annular space that gradually closes or opens. Unlike gate valves, globe valves cause a significant pressure drop and are excellent for throttling, but provide a tighter seal and are suitable for high-pressure applications.
